People Analytics: Now Contains Skills!

Last week’s Tucana People Analytics World conference proved the topic of *skills* has landed firmly in the domain of People Analytics.  Several sessions including Merck Group, Novartis, Nestlé and Simply Get Results all focussed on the strategic importance and business impact of getting a grip on skills.

This has been a long time coming. Anyone working in the PA domain for a while will recognise that for years the lack of skills data stopped companies driving value from skills-led analysis, insight and decision-making.

But that’s changed, once and for all.

Why? Firstly the imperative to focus on skills is more compelling than ever. Digitisation, globalisation and the pandemic have combined to create a global skills crisis. No company or industry is immune, and it’s getting worse, not better. Secondly there are now data and tools which can be used to identify and address skills gaps. The problem cannot be ignored, and the solutions are available.

While it’s true that each of the companies presenting on skills have done a lot of hard work, led by very smart people, the data and tools to drive value from skills are now available to everyone.

Here at Simply Get Results we love to see and create skills-led success stories. We see a corporate ‘blind spot’: while everyone’s fighting to address the global skills crisis, most companies lack the data and tools to be clear on the skills they (really) need, the skills they have, pinpoint the critical skills gaps, and take effective steps to close them.

Which is why we built Simply.  To fill your knowledge gaps with data, to drive better decisions with insight, and to help you ‘rightskill’ your workforce with powerful tools and accelerators.

And because Simply was built by people who have led strategic change for some of the world’s largest and most complex organisations, we shape our data and tools for strategic leaders. Easy to use. Powerful. Outcomes-focussed.

Thanks to everyone who organised, presented and attended #PAWorld. It was great to re-connect with so many friends and colleagues.

I look forward to seeing more and more skills-led success stories and I’m always happy to talk through anyone’s skills-related goals or challenges. We are also providing a skills diagnostic to help you on your skills journey.
