Liberty Global: Defining critical capabilities
Simply’s Platform was used by Liberty Global’s Talent COE to estimate their current workforce’s skills in days and zero-in on the top talent and skill priorities to inform build or buy decisions.
The team recognised the world of work was rapidly changing and to compete, they needed to build critical capabilities in four priority areas. Simply was used to prioritise critical skills to support each area, building a skills taxonomy and identifying the priority areas for workforce planning and action.
For each priority area, Simply was used to estimate the current skills across the company, providing a robust baseline. Risks and opportunities were identified, pointing to the biggest gaps between the company’s strategy and their current capability. This helped prioritise the smartest moves to make now and next to differentiate the company from its peers.
Simply’s global benchmarking dataset was used to inform sourcing options, which were evaluated to identify the best cost route to secure resources, including internal redeployment and rightskilling opportunities. In one case, the data helped to inform a $20k per head opportunity to re-deploy roles from network related roles into harder to fill Cyber-Security roles, delivering capability in targeted areas sooner. To round out their strategy, the used the same data to help inform strategic locations for hard to reach skills, selecting specific cities as potential talent pools for recruitment of Product Management and Data capabilities.
